Visually capturing the world in a realistic manner on canvas was a long journey for me. It took time for me to find a visual voice that truly felt natural. Then, quite suddenly, I found it. Perhaps it is a quantity equation, but I believe you must also be an uncompromising critic of your own brush. Every mark must belong.

The impressionists; Monet and Manet, were great inspiration to me. Edward Hopper and N.C. Wyeth were essential to my artistic development. So were the California impressionists, James Whistler and John Singer Sargent.

The frame is an integral part of the finished artwork. It is the transition between the real world and the artist’s world. I’ve included the frames for that reason. Some frames are bought, some are found then altered and some are built by me.
