Artwork Removed For Study | Blue Reverse No. 2
Size including stand: 2.0h x 2.5w x 2.25d inches
A small trompe-l'oeil display card made of ceramic paper clay. This is a placeholder for that artwork in your collection that is missing. This alerts your gallery staff (aka your family) not to worry - the artwork has not been stolen or broken - it's just removed for study. In other words ... someone is currently using that fabulous mug for coffee, or that stunning vase is on the counter full of fresh-cut flowers, or the flask has been reloaded with top-shelf and is out to a party.
This ceramic tent card uses a typewriter font on the front with subtle halftone design and my pop artifact grunge applied overall to the front and back of card. My artist mark is on the reverse of the card
INSPIRATION: Full disclosure! - The idea came from the book The Art Thief by author Michael Finkel. It is the true story of art thief, Stéphane Breitwieser who stole more that 400 artworks and collectables - often from museums during regular operating hours. One of his tactics was to quickly exchange the art work with a small note: Removed for study. I don't condone this action in any way. This behavior is morally wrong. However, that is where the idea originated for me ... a small note to say this art object is intentionally missing from display.
Slab-Built Paper Clay, Cone 5 oxidation fired
