Raku | - Glaze Pattern Bottle
Part of my Glaze Pattern series.
A small stoneware bottle. The Glaze Pattern series is a ongoing exploration of creating decorative patterns using common household or work place items not associated with the ceramics field. The items are coated with glaze and the surface is pressed against the bottle - transferring glaze from the objects high points onto the ceramic surface. An decorative vinyl place mat was used to create this glaze pattern. This bottle was raku fired.
PUBLICATION: I have published three articles on my glaze pattern methods.
- “Glazing Patterns.” Pottery Making Illustrated, November/December 2006: pp 20-23
- "Glazing Off the Grid, Part One.” Clay Times, Summer/Fall 2017: pp 4, 29-32
- “Glazing Off the Grid, Part Two.” Clay Times, Spring/Summer 2018: pp COVER, 4, 29-32
Stoneware: Approximately 4.75 inches height, raku fired. For display only.
